Blue Jack Barranco of Masca-Los gigantes excursion

Today we propose an excursion perfect for hikers; Barranco de Masca down to Los Gigantes beach and return on boat to Los Gigantes port.

Our journey begins taking a taxi back up to Masca, about 25 euros from the port.

Little village Masca / Pequeño pueblo de Masca

Masca gives us a lot of traditional houses, some restaurants and small craft and souvenir stalls. It highlights the presence of the House of Avinculados, being the oldest building in the area. We should not go unnoticed the Church of the Immaculate Conception eighteenth-century and celebrating their festivals in honor of the Virgin in August. Finally if we have time we can visit the ethnographic museum that is located in a house built in a typical Canarian.

We recommend wearing proper shoes, better trekking boots. The route is not good for children under six years, we did with ours and the last leg was a bit hard, but we enjoyed it very much, if you decide to do this, we recommended get up early,  the route during about three hours.

Along the way no one will see the huge walls of rock on either side. The typical vegetation of the area are the cacti, the tabaibas, palms and verodes. Stresses as agave species, mallow or aeonium Crag (rosette leaves).

BLUE JACK IN TENERIFE a paradise of nature!!!

Blue jack recommended this fabulous movie, and invites them to come with us to discover the spot places of Tenerife and the incredible marine habitat, whales, dolphins, turtles...., a perfect day at our luxury yacht.

Pilot whales in Tenerife

There is a way of life in the Canary Islands escaping from himself and that, however, is very similar to the human being: the family stays together, individuals reach over 70 years and the mother must fight against time against menopause to have babies. The conclusion therefore is that "nature is wiser than us."

A family of 20 pilot whales headed by Isora, the matriarch of the group. Among the members of the pack are the two males, "they only have defensive functions, so do not copulate with her classmates", and the offspring of Isora, which shows that this issue "has not yet gone through menopause and suggests of around 45 years, although this is pure supposition. "

It seems that the world of whales is somewhat obscure, even to the experts, because "80% of the information that is known of this species has been collected through individuals that have been stranded on the coast"

But why the Island and elsewhere in the world? Tenerife and Hawaii are the only places in the world where there are copies residents. These animals hunt at a distance of between 600 and 1,100 meters from the coast and were spotted about three miles from land, in the case of the Southwest. According to the naturalist, experts estimate that there are 160 whales in Tenerife always living among Canarian waters and another 700 who move to other places, such as the Azores. The settled on the island, however, also make small trips to La Gomera and Gran Canaria.

The reason leading to the specimens to live in an area indefinitely is the amount of food that can be found in the territory, also need warm seas. The Canary Islands produce water bodies that influence the wealth of cephalopods, so the Archipelago is a rich space for whales.

FANTASTIC TOUR TO LA GOMERA ISLAND

Blue Jack  offers you a fantastic trip to La Gomera Island, a jewel of nature. That’s how you will describe this island when you go back home. You’ll have to make an imaginative effort to find the words to describe its landscapes, especially the green forest formed by species that disappeared in other parts of the world millions of years ago, but which have survived here and will amaze you.

The trip takes about three hours every way, on the way we´ll enjoy of sailing and watching whales and dolphins, is a unforgettable experience.

One of the most interesting things to discover the protected natural monument of the organs has an area of over 150 hectares. Organs is possibly the best basalt formation that we can find on the island of La Gomera, because in it we see a dramatic cliff that begins at sea level and reaches almost 700 meters. In this sea cliff erosion has formed a kind of long tubes grouped around the cliff giving it the name of the organs.

To get a good view of the natural monument of the organs of La Gomera we do it from the sea, it is not possible to see from the ground.

If you choose this tour, while enjoying a wonderful day at sea, you'll take the opportunity to visit the fantastic Garajonay National Park declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the highest recognition that can reach a protected natural area.

Garajonay National Park is named after the legend of two lovers, Gara, Princess of La Gomera and Jonay, from Tenerife. The two lovers faced the disapproval of their love from their family, and decided to kill themselves by sticking a wooden spear and jump from the highest peak of the island.
"Garajonay" consists of a dense forest made up of different plant species, often surrounded by a sea of clouds that gives the forest a magical aspect. These fogs, are intercepted by the forest itself, producing a moisture load which is essential for the survival of a green territory located in an arid island. These type of forests are classified as “laurisilva” forests or “evergreen laurel”, which means a forest of laurels, since most of its component tree species have leaves similar to the laurel. Their existence is possible thanks to the high humidity and the mild temperatures, accompanied by little fluctuations during the year.
